There's $37 trillion in US retirement accounts, and it's mostly locked up in Wall Street mutual funds, pension funds, and insurance funds that subsidize extractive multinational corporations and build wealth for the already ultra wealthy.
Where The Next Egg began: We launched in 2019 with the goal of giving people the power to self-direct their 401(k)s and IRAs, so that we can invest our money in building vibrant communities. We shared resources, built a community of peers who have learned from one another, and gained access to low-cost financial products for our members. By joining The Next Egg, you can access our past resources, conversations, and webinars.
Now, we are shifting directions. In 2021, the Next Egg’s leadership team began to question many assumptions on which we were founded. You can read about that here. For the first 6 months of 2022, we’ll be holding dialogs with groups large and small, including these upcoming events.
